Fetalix engages the community at the European Researcher’s Night

Public engagement plays an important role in bridging the gap between scientific research and society. By creating opportunities for dialogue, researchers can share their work, inspire curiosity, and better understand the perspectives and needs of the communities they aim to serve.

Fetalix participated in the European Researchers' Night 2026 at i3S, joining forces with the Biofabrication Group to deliver the interactive activity "Ai que me doem as costas". The initiative was designed to raise awareness about low back pain and introduce visitors to the science behind regenerative medicine in an accessible and engaging way.

Throughout the evening, participants of all ages visited the activity, from children discovering scientific concepts for the first time to older adults who could relate to the challenges associated with low back pain. These interactions generated valuable conversations about musculoskeletal health, encouraging dialogue between researchers and the wider community.

Visitors were invited to take part in a range of hands-on activities, including drawing, painting, and exploring some of the biological materials used in research. The interactive format provided an opportunity to learn about the science behind Fetalix's work while fostering curiosity and encouraging participants to ask questions about research, innovation, and healthcare.

For the Fetalix team, the event highlighted the importance of listening as well as communicating. Engaging directly with members of the public provided valuable insights into their experiences, concerns, and expectations regarding low back pain and potential future treatments. These exchanges reinforce the company's commitment to developing solutions that respond to real patient needs and improve quality of life.

By participating in the European Researchers' Night, Fetalix contributed to bringing science closer to society and promoting greater awareness of the role that research and innovation can play in addressing significant healthcare challenges. Fetalix would like to thank everyone who visited the activity and helped make the evening such a memorable and rewarding experience. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to engage in discussion served as a powerful reminder of the positive impact that science outreach can have on society.
