Fetalix strengthens innovation pathway through licensing agreement

Technology licensing plays a key role in translating academic research into real-world healthcare solutions, enabling scientific discoveries to progress from the laboratory toward clinical and commercial application.

Fetalix has formalized a licensing agreement which grants the company the rights to commercially exploit the patent covering its fetal‑inspired regenerative biomaterial. The license encompasses the commercial use of products or services associated with the biomaterial described in the patent, aimed at treating intervertebral disc degeneration.

The technology originates from research conducted within INEB/i3s and it reflects years of dedicated work in regenerative medicine and the pursuit of new approaches for intervertebral disc degeneration.

This agreement deepens the collaboration between academic research and industry, strengthening the translation of pioneering discoveries into therapies with potential to improve patients’ quality of life.
