The development of regenerative therapies for intervertebral disc degeneration is a rapidly evolving field, in which scientific knowledge plays a key role in guiding innovation and research translational.

The publication from the co-founders entitled“Decellularized Scaffolds for Intervertebral Disc Regeneration.” provides an overview of current studies on decellularized biomaterials and their application in disc regeneration. It summarizes key advances in scaffold design, biological mechanisms, and emerging therapeutic strategies aimed at restoring tissue structure and function.
Decellularized scaffolds are biomaterials obtained through the cell removal while preserving the structural and biochemical framework of the extracellular matrix. In regenerative medicine, they are of particular interest due to providing both mechanical support and biological cues that guide tissue repair.
By consolidating current knowledge in this area, this review highlights both the progress made and the remaining challenges in translating decellularized approaches into effective clinical therapies for back pain and disc degeneration.
